what is a functioning summary?

i am doing a resume and need to know what a functioning summary is please

Answer:
I think you probably mean a functionAL summary and I think that would be a very brief overview of what you "do." As in "8+ years project management experience in a large consumer products IT department." That gives a recruiter an immediate, if basic, idea of what you are about.

The reason someone is calling it a functional summary is that people put a variety of summaries at the top of their resumes. Some will summarize key achievements, leadership positions, or even "competencies" such as their innovativeness or tenacity or attention to detail or faciliation skills.
